The Casino of Achievement

I believe that part of our responsibility in life is to find out who we are.

It’s common for people to bow down to destiny, and to hand over all their personal power to the elusive mercy of external forces. But, what most people fail to see, is that your life is not a book that you are given, with all the pages prewritten. No, life is a book of blank pages, ones that you are responsible for writing. Whether you like it or not, the book of your life is being written daily and in each and every second, by your thoughts and deeds.

“Life isn’t about finding yourself. Life is about creating yourself.”

George Bernard Shaw

This quote was something that my first mentor gave to me during a very tough time in my life. I was lost at the time, and I felt that life had dealt me a bad hand. But what this quote taught me was that our lives are fluid as opposed fixed, and that destiny is something that we control. This quote didn’t just give me direction during a troubled time, it also provided me with a compass for life.

Here’s the thing: Your life is not accidental or random. You were intentionally created, and created for a myriad of purposes.

There are many things that we can do with our lives. And I think it’s our responsibility to find those things and to do them as well as we possibly can. Because if we do live like this, we will pass along the right imprint for the next generation too.

One of the most important things in life is self confidence. Without that skill, and I use the word “skill” intentionally, without that skill we are useless as a people. Because when you lose sight of the light within yourself, you’re done for.

I use the definition of self confidence to be: The ability to believe in your ability to accomplish any task. To accomplish any task no matter the odds, no matter the difficulty, and no matter the adversity.

There are very few things that you can control in life. But, of the things you can control the three key ones are:

  1. How hard you work
  2. How honest you are
  3. How well you deal with others

You can only really control these variables, and if you harness this fact, these three simple things will put you in the driving seat of your own life.

And on the journey of your life, it’s important to consistently ask yourself:

“How would the person I’d like to be, do the things that I’m about to do?”

This simple question will help you to calibrate your approaches to tasks, and ensure that you are constantly in a state of progression as opposed to regression.

If you will start that process of change, if you will do something different for the next 90 days, something different to what you did for the last 90 days, then you will enjoy the fruits of change.

If you will do something different like reading the books that you should, exercising and investing in your health, and making constructive moves toward your future — then achievement will follow.

You see, change happens in a moment.

And breakthroughs happens in a moment.

We think of change and breakthroughs as being long standing and laborious tasks, or like a finish line that resides in the distant and almost unforeseeable future. But really, changes and breakthroughs are phenomenons of the moment.

What is a breakthrough anyhow? A breakthrough is simply that moment in time when suddenly the impossible becomes possible; not just intellectually but practically.

You need to understand that you have to take a chance.

Take your fears, doubts and your tendencies to be cautious, gather them up like toys and place them in the corner of your mind. For you must neglect these things in order to move forward and take chances.

Yes, you can’t be gullible. No, you can’t go for everything. Yes, you’ve got to be careful. But, don’t be so cautious that it paralyses you. Don’t be so cautious, that it restricts your chance to do better.

The truth is that only those that can see the invisible, can do the impossible. You have to be able to see what doesn’t exist, in order to be able to pull off/ achieve what in most people’s minds seems to be impossible. Only those that can see the invisible, being able to see what’s not there before it is, can live without limits.

What is your vision? What is your idea? What is the dream inside you that God asked you to dream?

Be brave, dream fearlessly and keep in mind:

Only those that can see the invisible, can do that which seems to be impossible.

If your current life doesn’t match your dream then you have two choices:

  1. You can say to yourself “You know what? My body isn’t how I want it to be, so I’m going to go exercise regularly.”
“My relationship, as convenient as it is, just isn’t giving me the love and fulfillment that I deserve. I’m going to be brave enough to set free both myself and my partner, so that we can find someone else.”
“I don’t have the skills I want for the career I desire, so I’m going to retool. I’m going to get a new skill, learn what I have to and get what I desire.”
  2. If all that sounds difficult or like “too much hard work” then you can simply give up on your dream.

The choice is yours.

People that don’t have any dreams for themselves, they tend to be serial dream killers. People that don’t have a vision for their own life, they normally love decimating the vision of others. These negative people want nothing more than to talk you out of your own vision. They don’t have dreams for themselves, are starved of any of their own hopes, and ultimately love to (be) hope-less. They are uninspired, unmotivated, and have no dreams. They have nothing that they are ambitious about. And they will come for you.

The only way to beat them is to continue to dream. And to dream big.

There’s enough people telling us that we can’t do it. That we’re not good enough.

I want to reassure you that you can do it.

I want to reassure you that you can make the decision.

And you can, in any year, month, day or moment of your choosing, make incredible changes in your life.

You’re not a tree. You’re not a fixture in the earth. And you’re not a bird that has to fly south.

You’re not trapped. You’re not compelled. You are free.

I’m here to tell you that any time you want, you can change your attitude. And any time you want you can change your income and revolutionize your life.

You do not have to be limited to your current abilities, you can learn new skills and enjoy your God given right to be able to change how and when you want to.

This ability to change that exists within all of us, is often overlooked and is written off with neglect.

When really our ability to change is one of the most powerful gifts that the Universe has bestowed us with. It is a powerful gift because the power of change is one that can cause drastic and extraordinary results in our life.

Until next time, make sure to Live More Than You Exist.

“Your life is a perfect reflection of you.

If life isn’t what you want, then don’t blame life.

Instead, look within.”

  1. This is phenomenal advice. Really, someone needs to give you the mic. I agree…breakthroughs happen in a moment. You start the process of change, and then something gives, resistance breaks. The most powerful moments of manifestation in my life were moments when I didn’t allow a single moment of doubt of fear in. People had smaller dreams for me or negative things to say, and I simply held on to the visual connected to my dream and didn’t let it dim or waver. Where I messed up in life, is I quit visualizing. For example, I got into the college of my choice, got the scholarships, and then didn’t have as much of a plan or visualization at that point.

I love the term “serial dream killers.” I know the type. I’m glad I’m not that type.

  2. Very practical advice. We all know ‘serial dream killers’ and they exist in the most relevant parts of our lives like family, so called friends or co-workers planting doubt in our minds. Focus on the main points Ethan tells you and follow his advice!
